Exceptional facilities offered to woman who delivered in plane

Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up at the Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs (NPRA) said on Tuesday that the passport department at the Bahrain International Airport had provided exceptional facilities to enable an Arab  woman, who had given birth to a baby girl on a flight before it landed in Bahrain, to enter the country.

He said it was the first such incident in the country, adding that the passenger was on her way from Abu Dhabi to her country via Doha when her plane was diverted to Bahrain due to bad weather. In view of her situation a visa was issued to her on arrival and she and her baby were referred to King Hamad University Hospital for medical care.
