NPRA: Entry visas for Qatar citizens and residents for sake of national security

The Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and head of the committee looking into special cases for the issuance of entry visas to Qatar citizens and residents announced on Monday that since the process of issuing visas might face some delay, it could affect the movement of families with relatives in Bahrain and Qatar.

He said the move aims to ensure Bahrain’s security and any steps to deal with threats to the Kingdom’s stability, especially in view of the current cooperation and coordination between Qatar and Iran, that is given priority over Qatar’s defence and security commitments to the Gulf countries.

Qatar has also granted citizenship to a number of Bahrainis, including military personnel, and this has had negative implications, especially on the ties between Bahraini and Qatari families. Qatar has also facilitated the entry of citizens of those countries that pose a threat to Bahrain’s security.
