Per the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to develop 500 services in 24 government authorities, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, asserted the continuation of developing NPRA services according to the highest standards to meet the needs of citizens and residents.
He highlighted that according to the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology follow-up, led by His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the NPRA has developed nine services, and two more are in the development process. The development of the services aims to reduce the application steps and depend on e-services to achieve the digital transformation plan and improve provided services to reinforce economic growth.
The NPRA Undersecretary said that the developed services covered the replacement of lost/damaged passports, delivery of passports inside Bahrain, traffic ticket issuance, swift passport replacement, and passport replacement outside the Kingdom. The services also included issuing, renewing, and cancelling residence permits and a grace period for residents with expired residence permits.
Through the developed services, the NPRA seeks to achieve 100% digital transformation, reduce required documents by 50% and decrease application steps. It also aims to improve user experience and simplify procedures.
He said that work continues to develop the service of updating passport information for residents who renew their passports and registering foreign newborns.
