Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up chairs GCC meeting

Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up at Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Doseri, chaired the 42nd meeting of the Directors-General of Passports of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination in passport and residence affairs.

The meeting discussed several topics, particularly the latest developments in the GCC Unified Visa project and the One-Stop Travel project for air travel, which aim to facilitate travel and movement procedures and enhance integration among GCC countries.

The participants also reviewed the outcomes of the first meeting of the technical team for developing passport and residence systems across GCC countries, including technical proposals to develop relevant systems and procedures and strengthen cooperation and the exchange of expertise among the competent authorities.

The meeting highlighted the importance of continued coordination, supporting joint GCC initiatives and projects, and utilising modern technologies to develop passport and residence systems, thereby enhancing service efficiency, facilitating passenger movement and strengthening GCC integration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants affirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts and following up on GCC projects and initiatives to achieve the shared objectives and aspirations of GCC citizens.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the GCC delegations visited Bahrain International Airport, where they were briefed on the One-Stop Travel procedures for passengers arriving from the United Arab Emirates through Zayed International Airport. They also reviewed the mechanisms and procedures in place to facilitate passenger movement, as part of joint GCC efforts to develop the travel system and enhance integration among the region’s airports.
