Chief of Police Chairs Meeting with Implementing Company for the Biometric Measurements System Project

The Chief of Police, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, chaired the first meeting of the Higher Committee for the Biometric Measurements System Project, attended by Interior Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, NPRA Undersecretary Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, and Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, along with representatives of IDEMIA Public Security France, the project’s implementing company and a global leader in advanced biometric solutions, and HJP Consulting, the specialised consultancy firm in biometric systems projects.

At the outset of the meeting, the Chief stressed that the Biometric Measurements System Project represents a qualitative leap in the security work ecosystem and reflects the strategic direction to implement the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to apply modern and advanced technologies in enhancing national security, improving institutional performance, and facilitating electronic services provided to citizens and residents, in line with digital transformation and development requirements.

He noted that the project contributes to strengthening integration among relevant entities and enhancing coordination and periodic follow-up mechanisms among all concerned parties. He underscored the importance of concerted efforts, teamwork, and adherence to the approved technical and time plans to ensure implementation in accordance with the highest applicable standards and the achievement of the project’s strategic objectives.

During the meeting, the project’s overall framework and technical scope were reviewed, the implementation plan and approved timeline were discussed, and roles and responsibilities among participating entities were defined to enhance governance, ensure proper execution, and guarantee the accuracy of outputs.

For their part, representatives of the implementing company presented the execution methodology and the various phases of work, in line with international best practices and standards for biometric systems, to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in data collection and utilisation. 

It is worth noting that the Biometric Measurements System Project is one of the Ministry of Interior's strategic initiatives, aiming to develop an advanced national system based on modern biometric technologies. The project will provide services to various security and civil entities, contributing to enhanced security, higher levels of credibility and accuracy, and facilitating electronic services and improving the user experience.
