Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs (NPRA) Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa met during his visit to the United Kingdom, with Bahrain Ambassador to the United Kingdom Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, in the presence of President of Customs Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The meeting reviewed ways to develop and enhance consular services and facilities provided to Bahraini citizens abroad, and discussed matters related to facilitating consular procedures. These included the possibility of renewing passports through Bahraini embassies, handling cases of lost or stolen passports while citizens are outside the Kingdom, as well as the service for replacing passports of citizens residing abroad via the government portal Bahrain.bh. This service enables citizens to submit applications electronically, receive the new passport, and cancel the old one through Bahrain’s embassies and consulates overseas, thereby streamlining procedures, saving time and effort, and completing applications within a period not exceeding seven working days.
The NPRA Undersecretary stressed the importance of strengthening integration between consular services and the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs system, in order to facilitate procedures and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens while they are outside the Kingdom.
For his part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom affirmed the embassy’s keenness to continue coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities, in a manner that enhances the level of services provided to Bahraini citizens abroad.
