Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, received the delegations participating in the 42nd meeting of the GCC Directors-General of Passports, being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 29 to 30 September.
At the outset of the meeting, the NPRA Undersecretary welcomed the delegations and praised the level of cooperation and coordination among GCC countries in the fields of passports and residence, as well as joint efforts to develop procedures and facilitate the movement of citizens, residents and visitors.
During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments concerning the Unified GCC Visa project and the One-Stop Air Travel project, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest as part of efforts to enhance integration and develop passport and residence services and procedures across GCC countries.
The NPRA Undersecretary highlighted the importance of continuing coordination and the exchange of expertise, advancing joint GCC projects and utilising modern technologies to develop passport systems and the travel framework and enhance service efficiency, contributing to facilitating travel and movement between GCC countries.
The delegation members expressed their appreciation to the NPRA Undersecretary and affirmed their commitment to continued coordination and joint action to achieve shared GCC objectives and aspirations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, he wished the participants every success, stressing the importance of reaching practical recommendations that support the implementation of joint GCC initiatives, advance passport and residence systems and facilitate movement between GCC countries.
